Yesterday, E! announced the newest addition to their reality show roster, Rob & Chyna, about the romance between Rob Kardashian and his fiancée, Blac Chyna. The show is set to be a six episode docu-series, which will follow the couple from the time of their engagement to the birth of their child.
The public’s obsession with the couple seems to stem less from the fact that Rob is a Kardashian and more from the fact that Blac Chyna has a previous child with the rapper Tyga, who also dated Rob’s half-sister, Kylie Jenner.
This is not the first Keeping up with the Kardashians spin-off. Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom had their own show, Khloé & Lamar, and Caitlyn Jenner has her own show as well entitled, I Am Cait.
Executive vice-president of E!, Jeff Olde, commented in a statement, “Very few love stories have created as much pop culture buzz as Rob and Chyna’s, and we are thrilled to see Rob in such a happy place. We are excited to share the next chapter in their relationship.”
While neither Rob nor Chyna are strangers to fame, they both have faced personal struggles. Rob Kardashian has had weight issues, depression and diabetes complications while Blac Chyna was arrested earlier this year for public intoxication at an airport.
Rob and Chyna only began dating in January of this year and announced their engagement a mere three months later, followed by the announcement of their pregnancy. Chyna was also previously engaged to Tyga.
Rob & Chyna is set to be produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions with Rob and Chyna serving as co-executive producers of the show. The show will premiere later this year on the E! Channel.
