2016 promises to be a great year of releases for movies to look forward to. Here are five highly anticipated suggestions that are likely to be well worth a trip to the theater to see:

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Following on from the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland (2010), Alice must travel back in time to save the Mad Hatter.

The all star cast from Alice in Wonderland (including Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter) return and join Rhys Ifans, who plays the Mad Hatter’s father, and Time himself, played by Sacha Baron Cohen.

Supernatural comedy Ghostbusters is getting a mainly female reboot, starring Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The story follows a pair of authors who are writing a book, proving the reality of ghosts. The movie also features some highly anticipated cameos from Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray who all starred in the original Ghostbusters movie.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Unwelcome aliens are invading our planet once more, but this time they are highly advanced and can only be fought by the ingenuity of a few good men and women. The movie stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch.

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is based on the DC comics series about a group of supervillains who get a chance to redeem themselves. The cast includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Jared Leto among others. Fans are already showing their appreciation for Jared’s take on the Joker.

Bridget Jones Baby

Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth return to the comedy following the life of Bridget Jones at a time when she is unexpectedly pregnant. Patrick Dempsey also stars in the film and there is a cameo by singer Ed Sheeran.
