Mr. Magic Mike himself, Channing Tatum, will make his directorial debut with a live version of the comedy film franchise. Magic Mike Live is coming to Las Vegas.
Channing made the announcement about the new show at the Hearst Digital Media’s NewFront House Party on Wednesday night . He also released a Facebook Live video via Cosmopolitan giving ladies the rundown on what the show will include.
The video featured Channing walking around a house full of his supposed roommates, who were really buff shirtless dancers from the show, as he mused on what was next for the Magic Mike franchise. Each roommate was doing something sexy such as folding women’s underwear, getting wet washing dishes or playing with puppies.
In the announcement, Channing also let fans know that the creators want to hear from them about what they want to see at the show.
“God knows we have enough gentlemen’s clubs in this world, so let’s start the first gentle lady’s club. Or maybe not so gentle, it depends what you’re into.”
In a statement to the press he elaborated, “We want to change what male entertainment has been for years. For 40, 50 years, it hasn’t changed, and we want to make it better.”
Cosmopolitan is partnering with the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas to present the year long live show. In addition to the live performance, additional features may include a video series where the cast transforms regular guys into sexy strippers or surprises a group of women with a day of pampering.
Although nothing has been announced yet, Channing may end up on the stage with the rest of the performers at some point. When asked if he’ll appear in the show he said, “If I’m ever in shape enough to actually do the show again, I will absolutely step on stage, just because it’s fun. I’m sure there’ll be a lot of crazy cameos.”
Magic Mike Live will debut March 2017 in Las Vegas with tickets going on sale soon.
