David Bowie had more planned then we realized before his passing. In addition to releasing Blackstar at the end of his life (and having the album become his first number one album in the US), David also apparently had what’s being called an InstaMiniSeries in the works.
The David Bowie miniseries, Unbound, will be a sixteen episode series that shows visual interpretations of the songs on his most recent album.
To create the series Bowie offered up advance details about his album and offered it to the creative team without any limits or preconditions in place.
According to the reps for the project it will “[take] the audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork. Each episode of the series is sure to capture the imaginations of all who experience it and will undoubtedly lead to endless speculation and discussion of meaning, metaphor and intention.”
The series was written by Carolynn Cecilia and directed by Nikki Borges, and stars Tavi Gevinson and Patricia Clarkson.
According to producer Lawrence Peryer:
“In light of recent events, this project has taken on new significance for all of us — cast and crew. We are very happy to be bringing a new creative work to David’s fans worldwide at a time when a focus on his music and art is much-needed.”
According to Instagram, Unbound will debut on the InstaMiniSeries account February 25 at 8 pm ET. Four episodes will be released each week on the weekdays Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
