Actor Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo in the original Star Wars Trilogy, snuck into a preview of his upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where he is reprising his role.

Fans in the theater in Sydney’s Darling Harbour were so engrossed by the ten minute screening, that they didn’t notice Harrison had joined them until the preview had finished.

After the screening, a spotlight shone onto him and it wasn’t until this point that the audience realized Harrison was in the theater with them.

Harrison stood up and said to the audience. “Let’s make a deal — don’t tell your friends what you’ve seen here today.”

Harrison, along with other cast members including Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew from the original trilogy, and actors new to Star Wars, including Andy Serkis; face the challenging role of being enthusiastic and approachable to fans, but keeping any storylines under wraps.

Whilst having to keep the eagerly anticipated plot quiet, Harrison has said that the new characters are interesting additions to the original cast and that the stories cross and connect in an interesting and dramatic way.

He admires J J Abrams (who has faced the challenging role of directing and co-writing the movie) and this was part of the appeal to him when reprising the Han Solo role. Additional appeal was also the new storyline and the opportunity to revisit the character of Han in new circumstances and a new context.

Actor Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy, seems to have kept a low profile, despite his name being used in promotional posters. This is naturally drawing curious fans to come up with speculation and theories as to why this is the case, including one theory that Luke may have joined the “Dark Side”!

The movie picks up from where Return of the Jedi left off. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is hitting our screens nationwide on December 18.
