Game of Thrones won eight awards at this year’s creative Emmy Awards.
The ceremony, which took place at the weekend at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, was a precursor for the main event on Sunday, September 20. The successful HBO saga, based on the George R R Martin books picked up eight prizes for technical achievement including Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Comtemporary or Fantasy Program.
Presenters of the ceremony included Beau Bridges and Heidi Klum. The ceremony also recognized behind the scences craftspeople in TV and Comedy.
American Horror Story: Freak Show was close behind Game of Thrones, taking five awards including Outstanding Hairstyling For A Limited Series Or A Movie.
Bessie, a biopic about blues singer Bessie Smith (starring Queen Latifah) took the Best Made-For-TV Award.
Other award winning programs included Silicon Valley, which took the Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program (Half-Hour Or Less) and Inside Amy Schumer for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.
People honored at the creative arts Emmys included Hank Azaria for best voice-over performance for cartoon The Simpsons and Jane Lynch took the Host For a Reality or Reality Competition award for Hollywood Game Night.
Singer Taylor Swift, who is no stranger to winning awards, won her first ever Emmy for Original Interactive program for her AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience (as well as the star she was executive producer.)
Taylor found out the news in an unusual way by being tagged in a post on Twitter last week. At first she didn’t believe the news but has sinced expressed a lot of excitement on social media about the win.

A pre-recorded version of the creative Emmys will air on September 19 on FXX and the Primetime Emmys will air on September 20 on Fox.
