Disney has chosen Tim Burton to direct its live-action remake of Dumbo.
It was announced last year that a remake of the 1941 animated classic was on its way, and today Disney revealed that the well-known writer, director and producer would be working on the project.
Tim is best known for writing and directing darker films, like Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Sweeney Todd.
But the 56-year-old director has worked with Disney in the past, directing 2010’s Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp.
Screenwriter Ehren Kruger, famous for his work on the Transformers movies, wrote the new Dumbo script and will produce the film along with Justin Springer, known for TRON: Legacy and Oblivion.
The upcoming film is the latest in a long line of remakes of animated classics, including Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.
No release date for Dumbo has been announced yet.
