Carrie Fisher’s daughter has denied rumors she will be playing a young Princess Leia in the upcoming Star Wars movie.
Billie Lourd, whose mother Carrie famously played Leia in the original trilogy, will be appearing in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens but will be playing a different character. Carrie will be returning to the silver screen to reprise her role as Leia.
Twenty-three-year-old Billie, who is also the daughter of entertainment agent Bryan Lourd, is not short of work, also starring in Scream Queens, a forthcoming horror comedy by Fox.
Fans of the original Star Wars trilogy are eagerly anticipating the return of original cast members Carrie, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker (the amusing robots C3PO and R2D2).
Joining them in Episode VII is Andy Serkis, who is best known for Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Caesar from the recent Planet of the Apes movies. Andy is also tight-lipped about who he will be playing in the movie, sparking rumors of more than one part – including a villian.
Fans are also very excited that Emmy award winning writer/producer/director J. J. Abrams (best known for Lost and Super 8) is writing and directing the new movie, particularly as he is a self-confessed hardcore Star Wars fan.
There’s no question J. J. Abrams will put his heart and soul into this movie. He has described Star Wars as probably the most influential films of his generation, and when he met Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof for the first time he felt an instant connection to him, purely based on the fact he was wearing an original Star Wars T-shirt!
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits our screens December 18.
