The release date of Tim Burton produced Alice Through the Looking Glass has officially been confirmed as May 27, 2016.

The movie is to be directed by James Bobin, who directed The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted, and confirmed actors include Mia Wasikowska, who will star again as Alice; Johnny Depp, who will star again as The Mad Hatter, and Helena Bonham Carter, who will reprise her role of the Red Queen.

Rhys Ifans, who played Dr Curt Connors/The Lizard in The Amazing Spiderman is a new addition to the cast and will play the role of the Mad Hatter’s father!

The movie also consists of a well known voice cast including Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat and Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar.

Success at the Box Office is predicted for dark fantasy Alice Through the Looking Glass, as the 2010 Alice in Wonderland took a total of over $1 Billion! Alice in Wonderland is Tim Burton’s most successful movie to date. It gained Academy Awards in Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design.

The premise of the Alice Through the Looking Glass movie is that Alice goes back to Underland (Tim Burton’s take on the Wonderland from the Lewis Carroll books) only to find that things are not going well. The Mad Hatter is “growing darker” and to stop the loss of her friend Alice turns to Time himself (who is a character played by Sacha Baron Cohen.)

Despite warnings not to, Alice then embarks on a time travelling adventure enabling her to see younger versions of familiar characters.

The movie will include music by Danny Elfman who famously composed the theme for animated sitcom The Simpsons and whose other compositions include the scores to Oz The Great and Powerful and Alice in Wonderland.
