5 of the Best Fifty Shades of Grey Headlines

Fifty Shades of Grey

The much-anticipated movie adaptation of the best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey opened in theaters last weekend, and it’s all anyone can talk about.

We’ve rounded up some of the best Fifty Shades headlines from the past week.

1. Here’s How People Are Secretly Watching Fifty Shades of Grey

No, they’re not sneaking into theaters wearing disguises – they’re just doing some good old-fashioned illegal downloading.

More than 450,000 pirated copies of Fifty Shades of Grey were downloaded online over the film’s opening weekend, Fortune.com reported.

The number is particularly high, double that of the illegal downloads of Guardians of the Galaxy during its opening weekend.

But then, no one was embarrassed to be seen at the theater to watch Guardians of the Galaxy.

2. Is The Fifty Shades Of Grey Soundtrack This Year’s Frozen?

In most other ways, these two films are unlikely to be compared, but the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack is proving to be as popular as Frozen’s – though likely with a different audience.

The soundtrack debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard Album Chart, bested only by Drake’s surprise album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

Fifty Shades CDs and downloads have been selling like hotcakes, with 258,000 snapped up in the first week since release.

Two singles from the soundtrack, Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” and The Weeknd’s “Earned It”, are in the top 40.

The Frozen soundtrack sold only 44,000 copies in its first week, but quickly picked up steam, selling well over three million copies to date.

3. Here’s What Happened Inside the Worst Fifty Shades of Grey Screening

Three women were arrested at a showing of Fifty Shades of Grey in Glasgow, after allegedly assaulting a fellow moviegoer who told them to “shut up”.

The women didn’t take kindly to the man’s request and made sure he knew about it, with witnesses saying they attacked him with a wine bottle, Vanity Fair reported.

Police later said a wine bottle wasn’t used as a weapon, and no one was seriously injured in the upset.

However, one man told The Telegraph that he saw theater staff wiping blood off seats before the next showing of the film.

4. Fifty Shades Of Grey-Crazed Teens Storm Theater By The Hundreds

A mob of nearly 1,000 teenagers, reportedly angry at not being allowed to watch Fifty Shades of Grey without an accompanying adult, stormed a Florida movie theatre in protest.

R-rated films, like Fifty Shades, require under 17s to be with a parent or guardian.

As many as 900 young people were involved in the stampede, and around 200 managed to get into the movie theater, The Huffington Post reported.

Several people called 911, and there were initially reports that shots had been fired, but this turned out to be fireworks in the parking lot.

Two minors were arrested, one on charges of battery and resisting arrest, the other on a drug charge.

5. Movie Mix-Up Shows Fifty Shades of Grey to SpongeBob Audience

Parents at a Colorado drive-in theater were horrified when Fifty Shades of Grey appeared on screen instead of the movie they had intended their children to see: The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.

The R-rated movie was accidentally played due to a “chip problem with the server,” The Denver Post reported. The film was abruptly stopped and the mistake rectified.

Fifty Shades’ raunchier scenes don’t begin until later in the film, but parents at the MetroLux 14 theater in Johnstown weren’t taking any chances, many of them rushing their children away as soon as the movie’s title popped up.

“People ran out of there,” Johnstown grandfather Joe Jaramillo told The Post.

“You could hear little kids going, ‘SpongeBob! SpongeBob!’ as the parents were dragging them out.”
