Miley Cyrus will serve as key adviser on NBC’s The Voice for season 10 of the series. Miley will help judges Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and Adam Levine prepare their singers during the knockout competition rounds.

The key adviser role was held by Rihanna last season and has also been filled by the likes of Taylor Swift, Chris Martin, and Nate Ruess.

As with most celebrities these days, Miley made the announcement via Twitter, including a photo of her famous tongue about to lick one of the red buttons on the show.

The Voice’s Facebook page reposted Miley’s photo with the caption, “Welcome to The Voice, Miley!”

While the news has not made it onto the official webpage for The Voice, a statement was released by Paul Telegdy, NBC’s Entertainment President of Alternative and Late Night Programming.

“When Miley speaks everyone pays attention. Our artists are very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom. Our viewers will be treated to an inside look at one of the brightest minds in music and the entertainment industry who is at the forefront of pop culture.”

However, it seems not everyone agrees with Mr. Telegdy. One glance at the top comments on The Voice’s Facebook posting of the announcement and it’s plain to see there are some Miley haters out there.

Many of the comments show that most people aren’t happy with NBC’s decision to bring in Miley. One person commented, “Dear NBC: probably won’t be watching this season if Miley Cyrus is on. Why would a wholesome, positive show choose such a disrespectful, lewd, and narcissistic advisor?”

While one person’s opinion isn’t likely to influence the executives at NBC, it will be interesting to watch for more potential controversy as the contestants, judges, and audience react to Miley being on the show.

Season 10 of The Voice premieres on February 29th at 8 PM EST on NBC.
