Actress Renee Zellweger, 46, who famously played amusing ‘granny-undies wearer’ Bridget Jones in the original movies, wants to keep the authenticity of the voice and accent she used in the role over ten years ago.
For the first two movies, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Renee, a Texan with Swiss, Norwegian, Finnish and Sami ancestry, spoke in a distinctive English accent. She now needs a refresher from a vocal coach because of the time that has passed since the filming of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
Although Hugh Grant fans may be disappointed as Hugh will not be appearing in the new Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, fans of Colin Firth will be very pleased as he was spotted filming for his role of Mark Darcy in London last Thursday. Part of the movie was also recently filmed at an Ed Sheeran gig at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
The romantic comedy is based on the columns writen by author Helen Fielding in the UK’s Independent newspaper, and not on her actual third novel, which has a different storyline.
Patrick Dempsey, of Grey’s Anatomy is also filming for the movie. It is has not yet been revealed which character he will be playing, but Renee has clearly filmed scenes where Bridget is pregnant and it appears that Bridget has moved with the times as she seems to have replaced her diary with a modern phone!
The third Bridget Jones movie is going to be weird without Hugh Grant. At least they have Patrick Dempsey though
