The internet is full of conspiracies and speculation especially in regard to celebrities and public figures. Perhaps one of the most bizarre claims comes from a recently resurfaced YouTube video, which tries to convince viewers that Katy Perry is JonBenét Ramsey. That’s right, the little girl turned pageant queen who was the victim of one of the most famous unsolved murders of the 90s.
YouTube user Dave Johnson created a video to show how “all of these people are liars” claiming that “nobody died, nobody got hurt” and that her “sacrifice was in name only.” He then drones on about the similarities between Katy Perry and JonBenét, first comparing their parents and then the looks of both girls.
If that wasn’t creepy enough, the video then superimposes JonBenét’s face over Katy Perry’s while audio plays of JonBenét singing “God Bless America” followed by part of a newscast announcing her death.
Similar videos have also popped up claiming the same and stating the conspiracy as fact, with no other evidence other than the two slightly resemble each other. This is not the first time it has been theorized that a celebrity was actually JonBenét grown up, however.
In 2012, rumors were floating around the internet that Lady Gaga was actually JonBenét Ramsey and that Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse were the same person. Video comparisons of the stars’ ears and noses alongside JonBenét’s were shown as proof that the theory was true.
While there’s no question there was a national obsession with the JonBenét murder, and figuring out who her killer was, the renewed interest in JonBenét is most likely due to the fact that this year will mark the twentieth anniversary of her death.
Katy Perry on the other hand, has always been Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson and grew up nowhere near Boulder, CO where JonBenét is from. There is also the obvious fact that Katy is six years older than how old JonBenét would have been now. Some people just don’t know how to face the facts though, or reality for that matter.
