Canadian pop star Justin Bieber won an impressive five awards at last night’s MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony.
The ceremony took placed at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan and was hosted by singer Ed Sheeran alongside actress/former MTV VJ, Ruby Rose.
The five awards Justin scooped were for Best Collaboration for the song, “Where Are You Now?”, featuring Skrillex and Diplo; Best Male, Best Look, Biggest Fans and the Best North American Act.
This means that 21 year old Justin is now a musical record breaker, as his accumulated total MTV EMAs over the years now stands at eighteen, toppling rapper Eminem from the top spot who had reached an impressive fifteen.

Surprisingly, Justin scooped many more awards than Taylor Swift, who despite being nominated for nine awards, only managed to win one for the song “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Host Ed Sheeran won two awards himself, for Best World Stage (for the UK’s V Festival) and Best Live Act. He told the audience, “I’m very excited to be here, Italy is one of my favorite countries, it’s nice to be hosting a show here.”
Before the ceremony, Justin Bieber appeared to be very happy as he greeted fans on the red carpet. During the ceremony he performed his new song “What Do You Mean?” on the stage. After speculation that he may become very emotional and cry, like recently at the VMAs, Justin managed to keep his composure this time.
Justin was grateful for the support his fans have shown him and acknowledged this by saying that he doesn’t take winning awards and thier support for granted. He also thanked everyone who has enabled him to get to this place, including his parents.
Other winners at the EMAs last night included Rihanna for Best Female, Nicki Minaj for Best Hip-Hop and Coldplay for Best Rock.
