Harrison Ford is expected to completely recover from the injuries he received when his small plane crashed in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon.

The 72-year-old actor and pilot took off from Santa Monica Airport in his vintage plane around 2 p.m. About 20 minutes later he reported his single engine had failed and requested permission from air traffic control to return to the airport immediately.

But he couldn’t make it to the runway, instead crash landing on a nearby golf course.

Harrison was hurt in the crash, cutting his forehead and possibly breaking a leg, but no one on the ground was harmed.

A number of doctors were playing golf on the course, and rushed to help free Harrison from the wreck. He was conscious when paramedics arrived to assist and take him to the hospital.

Harrison’s publicist said in a statement that the star, who has been a licensed pilot since 2002, “was banged up” in the crash but “is expected to make a full recovery.”

His son, Ben Ford, tweeted a couple of hours after the crash that his father was doing fine.

Upon hearing the iconic actor would be ok, fans immediately began to draw amusing Star Wars and Indiana Jones parallels.

There has been no word on whether Harrison has been released from the hospital yet.
