Chloe Moretz has revealed her excitement about appearing in the upcoming Little Mermaid movie on social media:
18 year old actress Chloe, who is also a model, has appeared in over twenty movies including Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Hugo and Carrie. She has also won a total of nineteen awards to date including Scream Award for Best Breakthrough Performance for her role as Mindy Macready/Hit-Girl in superhero dark comedy Kick-Ass; and Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film for her role as Angie Steadman in the comedy movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
The new version of The Little Mermaid is said to bare no resemblance to the animated Disney version and is classed as Live Action. Not much has been revealed about this version in the way of plot, but Chloe will play the main role of Ariel.
In the classic Hans Christian Andersen story, of which the movie is based, Ariel is a mermaid who falls in love with a human after she rescues him from drowning, and then has the desire to become human.
The Little Mermaid will be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Their joint previous credits as producers include The Theory of Everything, Trash and the upcoming Bridget Jones’s Baby.
The script has been linked to Richard Curtis of Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, but a director is yet to be announced as the movie is in its very initial stages at present.
Although there is no official release date as yet for The Little Mermaid, fans of Chloe can look forward to catching her in upcoming science fiction thriller The 5th Wave in the meantime when it hits our screens next January.
