The London School of Economics has officially announced that Angelina Jolie Pitt will be joining their staff as a visiting professor in a new master’s program at the University’s Centre for Women, Peace and Security.
The program will start taking applicants in the fall, and Angelina will be one of four visiting professors who will give lectures to students on campus, as well as lead workshops in the graduate program.
In a statement she said:
“I am very encouraged by the creation of this master’s program. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict.”
Angelina is more than qualified for the job. For over a decade she has worked tirelessly with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as both a goodwill ambassador and a special envoy.
She has mostly focused her work on refugees, women and sexual violence, as well as general conflict. More recently she has begun to share her opinions about the current migrant crisis, and has expressed her disappointment in how the U.S. has handled things so far.
As of now there are no details about how often Angelina will actually be on campus or what her exact duties will be throughout the program, but some of the different course titles have been released which include: “Women, Peace and Security,” “Gender and Militarization” and “Gender and Human Rights.”
