Amy Schumer was awarded the MVP Award at the Critic’s Choice Awards on Sunday night, and during her acceptance speech she discussed why it was so important to write her own roles.

Amy was referring to the double standards about body types in Hollywood when she thanked the award for “covering the reason that I had to write my own s**t.” Pointing to her body she said “If you’re an actress and you have this area right here, you have to write your own stuff if you want to get it made.”

She was essentially calling attention to the fact that actresses tend to get more work when they are a certain size.

She continued on, calling attention to the Pirelli calendar she posed nude for a few months ago, throwing in some sarcasm on the topic.

“This is where I get really ‘brave’ as everyone said after my Annie Leibovitz photo. That’s what you want everyone to say when a naked photo of you goes viral. You want them to say, ‘What a brave photo.’ You’re like, ‘Thanks, wow, thank you.’”

Amy was joined at the awards show by her new boyfriend Ben Hanisch. Ben was absent from her side at last week’s Golden Globes, although that gave reporters a moment to inquire about the relationship.

“We’re in love and it’s really exciting,” she began. “I’ve never been dating anyone that the public’s really known about. But I like that everyone thinks I’ve been single my whole life. They’re like, ‘She got her first boyfriend!’ and I’m like, ‘No, I’ve dated people over the years.'”
