Late last week Adele released her video for “Hello,” her first single since her album 21 in 2011.
The “Hello” music video has smashed records, racking up over 27.7 million views within 24 hours of hitting the internet — it’s being watched over one million times per hour!
Taylor Swift’s star-studded video for “Bad Blood” held the record previously with over 20.1 million views in its first day.
The video, which was shot in Toronto, was directed by Cannes Jury Prize winning filmmaker Xavier Dolan.
Despite claims she would never act, Adele said she enjoyed the experience.
“[Xavier] said I was quite good.” She admits, “I had to cry and everything.”
In her first interview in three years, Adele opened up to i-D about 25, saying her new record is about getting older and becoming nostalgic.
“I think the album is about trying to clear out the past,” she said. “I’ve got to clear a lot of stuff the f**k out, which is really therapeutic.”
We can all relate to how our lives change in our 20s. We can expect some new content and emotion from 25.
“I was very conscious not to make 21 again. I definitely wasn’t going to write a heartbreak record,” she stated.
The full album will be released November 20.
