But there are a good number of them have managed to avoid the stereotypical fate of drugs, alcohol and nervous breakdowns, and carve out pretty inspiring careers for themselves. In this list we’ve rounded up some of our favorite former child actors who have done great things as adults.
1. Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster started acting at the age of 3 appearing first in commercials and then on television. By the age of 14 Jodie Foster was nominated for her first Oscar for her role in Taxi Driver in which she played a 12-year old runaway who turned to prostitution. After a brief exit from the business Foster returned to acting and won 2 Best Actress Oscars and directed her first film by the age of 29. To top it off at the age of 50 Jodie Foster became the second youngest woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award for her “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”.
