2. Jon Hamm
More than 80 actors auditioned for the role of Mad Men’s Don Draper in 2007, but it was a 36-year-old Jon Hamm who won the part. Jon certainly wasn’t fresh meat in Hollywood – he had been living there and attempting to make something of himself since 1995, winning just a few speaking parts that paid so little that he spent more time waiting tables than on the big screen.
Finally in 2000, after deciding to give it a few more years, he started to get his foot in the door on TV shows and in a few movies, like Bridesmaids, Providence, The Division, and many more. Only a year into his gig as Don Draper, Jon won a Golden Globe for his performance in the AMC blockbuster, and since then has formed his own production company with his long-term partner Jennifer Westfeldt.
